During the session, Metropolitan Miron Cristea, who was soon to be enthroned as the first Patriarch of Romania, delivered a memorable speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">his Honor Belongs to the Entire Churc<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">h&#8221;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The late Patriarch Miron Cristea praised the arguments and speeches of political leaders who emphasized the historical and spiritual merits of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which had led to its elevation to the rank of Patriarchate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he Church is not composed solely of its clergy, bishops, or <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">its<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> temporary leader. The true Church is the living Church\u2014the great multitude of all its faithful,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hus, the great <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">honor<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that you bestow upon me today with your unanimous and enthusiastic vote is not just a personal distinction\u2014it is the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">honor<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of the entire Church as a collective body, as well as the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">honor<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of every believer.<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It is also <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> honor <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> each of you<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">who<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> represent the nation in <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Parliament of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> our country<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The future Patriarch expressed deep gratitude for the strong support of <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">both<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the Holy Synod and the political leaders who backed the establishment of the Patriarchate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;M<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ay God help us so that this new institution of the Patriarchate, and the love that unites all its faithful to the head of the Church, may strengthen our common will to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">labor<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and sacrifice for the flourishing, fortification, and development <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">of the Church<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> May it become what we all desire\u2014a beacon of warmth and light, guiding every citizen with the sublime teachings of the Savior<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He envisioned the Romanian Patriarchate as an institution <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that would spread<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> its light and love beyond national borders, fostering unity and Christian brotherhood with other nations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;F<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">rom a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shepherd&#8217;s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Son to Patriarc<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">h&#8221;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patriarch Miron Cristea also shared his personal journey, expressing humility and gratitude for his elevation from modest beginnings to the highest ecclesiastical rank in Romania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;I<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> give thanks to God, who has raised me from the son of a simple peasant\u2014baptized by a shepherd tending his vast flocks on the mountains of Moldova\u2014not far from my native village, Topli\u021ba Rom\u00e2n\u0103\u2014to the highest ecclesiastical rank a man can attain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hat shepherd, before a holy icon, guided me to become a shepherd myself, and now, I have become the spiritual shepherd of this nation<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Despite his decades of dedication to the Church and public service, the future Patriarch acknowledged that his elevation was not solely due to his efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;I<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> firmly believe that the boundless love of this <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">nation\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> representatives, intellectuals, and leaders\u2014<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">toward the great reservoir of physical and spiritual energy that is the Romanian peasantry<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2014has contributed significantly to raising one of its sons to this ecclesiastical height<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Establishment of the Romanian Patriarchate<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After receiving unanimous approval from both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, the Law for the Establishment of the Romanian Patriarchate was signed into <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">law<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> by King Ferdinand I on February 23, 1925 and published in the Official Gazette on February 25, 1925.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In his concluding words, Metropolitan Miron Cristea called for unity and commitment to the Church and nation, ending with a heartfelt blessing:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;M<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ay the Church, the Nation, the King, and the Royal Dynasty live long!
