His message highlighted the lack of love in today&#8217;s society and the transformative power of Christ&#8217;s love.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A World Lacking Love<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">At the start of his pastoral letter, Bishop Ignatie reflected on the absence of love in modern society: <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;W<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hat can <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be said<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> with certainty is that in the world we live in and of which we are a part, we are witnessing a deficit of love<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He pointed out that the fire of love brought by Christ through His birth is often extinguished by hatred, contempt, envy, revenge, and slander, fueled by selfishness and excessive self-concern.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Call to Love Enemies<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Bishop <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ignatie<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> stressed that the current state of the world, where love is increasingly scarce, stems from neglecting the commandment to love enemies:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;L<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ove your enemies, do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/em> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">(Luke 6:27-29)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He reminded believers that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">God\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> love is unconditional: <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;G<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">od loves us even when we do not deserve it. He allowed Himself to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be crucified<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for us at the height of <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">humanity&#8217;s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> hatred.
