{"id":507829,"date":"2024-12-02T17:02:59","date_gmt":"2024-12-02T15:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=507829"},"modified":"2024-12-02T17:02:59","modified_gmt":"2024-12-02T15:02:59","slug":"bulgarian-patriarch-daniil-attends-romanian-national-day-reception-in-sofia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/bulgarian-patriarch-daniil-attends-romanian-national-day-reception-in-sofia\/","title":{"rendered":"Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil attends Romanian National Day reception in Sofia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On Friday evening, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria attended a reception organized by the Romanian Embassy in Sofia to mark Romania\u2019s National Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The event gathered over 400 attendees, including <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Bulgaria\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Ministers of Defense, Internal Affairs, Tourism, and Energy; Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs; members of Parliament; leaders of Bulgarian state institutions; and Father Nelu\u021bu Oprea, priest of the Romanian Orthodox Church<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> &#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Holy Trinity<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">in Sofia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Local government officials\u2014prefects and mayors\u2014alongside business leaders, representatives of civic organizations, and members of the Bulgarian media were also present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Her Excellency Br\u00e2ndu\u0219a Ioana Predescu, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Romania\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Bulgaria, highlighted the strategic partnership between Romania and Bulgaria, noting their pivotal roles in fostering democracy and security in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">She further mentioned a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ro\/ro\/media\/comunicate-de-presa\/decrete-de-decorare-semnate-de-presedintele-romaniei-klaus-iohannis1732879461\">presidential decree<\/a> published the same day, awarding distinctions to Bulgarian figures who have significantly contributed to bilateral relations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Among the honorees, former Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (former King Simeon II) received Romania&#8217;s highest national honour, the <em>National Order of the Star of Romania,<\/em> in the rank of Grand Cross.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ambassador Predescu noted that the former monarch was a key partner for Romania during its preparation for and subsequent accession to the European Union and NATO.
