{"id":507805,"date":"2024-12-02T15:40:22","date_gmt":"2024-12-02T13:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=507805"},"modified":"2024-12-02T15:40:22","modified_gmt":"2024-12-02T13:40:22","slug":"patriarch-daniel-jesus-desires-restoration-of-health-and-renewal-of-personal-connection-with-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/patriarch-daniel-jesus-desires-restoration-of-health-and-renewal-of-personal-connection-with-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriarch Daniel: Jesus desires restoration of health and renewal of personal connection with God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>&#8220;Jesus desires that, along with the restoration of people\u2019s health, their personal connection with God\u2014the Source of life and all beneficial gifts\u2014also be renewed,&#8221; said Patriarch Daniel on Sunday, referencing the Gospel account of the healing of the blind man of Jericho.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hat is why Jesus asks the blind man, <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What do you want me to do for you?<\/span><\/em> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">rather<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> than <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What do you want me to give you?<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Jesus does not merely bestow external material gifts but transforms a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">person\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> state of life. He raises individuals from their dire condition to a new, blessed life,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">explained the Patriarch.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Faith and Persistent Prayer<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">his healing demonstrates that the Lord Jesus Christ is not indifferent to the suffering of the sick. He listens, especially to the requests and prayers of the sick that stem from strong faith and persistent supplication,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patriarch Daniel emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;O<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ften, before healing the sick, Jesus seeks to ascertain the depth of their faith. Why? So that they may cooperate with Him in their healing and actively participate<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in receiving the gift of full health<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The cry of the blind man from Jericho, the Patriarch noted, could only have come from deep faith:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he blind man sensed in his soul that Jesus of Nazareth was his only chance for healing. He understood that this Jesus\u2014who had healed so many others\u2014could help him change his <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">own<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> unhappy life<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;F<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">or this reason, the blind man <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">didn\u2019t<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> ask, <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Who is Jesus?<\/span><\/em> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Instead, he immediately began to cry <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">out<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">!<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Asking for What Only Jesus Can Give<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;I<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">n the hearing of all, the blind man asked for something that no other human could grant\u2014only Jesus of Nazareth could: the restoration of his sight,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">highlighted Patriarch Daniel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;H<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is voice was so loud that Jesus Himself heard it, even amidst a tumultuous crowd. At <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jesus\u2019<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> command, some people brought the blind man from the roadside to the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">centre<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of the path, near Jesus. In doing so, Jesus wanted everyone present to understand that the blind man was not asking for money or food but for healing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;J<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">esus knew <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0once healed, the blind man would follow Him on the same path of proclaiming <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">God\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> merciful love for humanity. From a beggar on the roadside, sustained by <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">others\u2019<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> pity, the blind man of Jericho\u2014healed by Jesus\u2014becomes a witness and missionary, glorifying God,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patriarch Daniel explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Healing Brings New Life<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;J<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">esus allowed the healed man to follow Him into the city of Jericho, so that the blind man could now see the city with his healthy eyes and so that the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">city\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> inhabitants could witness his healing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he Lord Jesus Christ desires that people live naturally\u2014healthily and joyfully\u2014in full communion with God and others,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the Patriarch continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">J<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">esus\u2019<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> attitude toward the blind man <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">was different<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> from that of many around Him. Unlike others, He did not see illness as an unchangeable fate but as a condition to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be healed<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, transforming suffering into joy, isolation into communion, and restoring human dignity when it has <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">been diminished<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, disrespected, or humiliated<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Witness of Faith<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;A<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">fter being healed of physical blindness, the blind man of Jericho followed Jesus and glorified God. He became a teacher of faith, prayer, and gratitude<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patriarch Daniel concluded with a call to emulate the blind <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">man\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> faith:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;L<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">et us also pray earnestly to the Lord Jesus Christ, as the blind man of Jericho did, with strong faith in times of suffering or trial, saying, <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lord, have mercy on me<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">!<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;B<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">y doing so, we will spiritually perceive <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Christ\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> presence near us, hear His call to draw closer to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Him<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and feel His healing grace.
