Several Romanian Orthodox parishes in Spain have come to the aid<\/a> of communities affected by severe flooding in the host country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Romanian Orthodox Parish of “Saint Ephrem the New” in Torrent, Valencia, sent three cars loaded with food on Sunday to support the residents of the Valencian towns of Xenillet, Alaqu\u00e1s, and Aldaia.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the parish also received a delivery of water, which was promptly distributed to those most in need.<\/p>\n

The Consular Corps of the Romanian Embassy also provided assistance, delivering a truck and a van loaded with supplies.<\/p>\n

The goods were unloaded at the Romanian church in Torrent and then redistributed by volunteers: three vans filled with water, food, and hygiene and cleaning products were sent to Monserrat (Catalonia) and Montroy Real (Valencia).<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Romanian community in Torrent sent a vehicle with shovels, boots, and other necessary items to assist with mud cleanup and water removal from homes. In southeastern Torrent, where a Romani community resides, they delivered clothing, water, and milk.<\/p>\n

Romanian communities in Elche and Albacete also mobilized to help, sending material assistance to the Valencian region of Requena Utiel.<\/p>\n

Over 200 victims<\/h2>\n

Following unusually intense rainfall in a short period, the last two days of October brought devastating floods to the Valencia and Malaga areas. As of Monday, November 4, the number of affected individuals exceeded 200.<\/p>\n

“We encourage Romanian believers residing in Spain to stand with those affected, offering words of consolation as well as acts of Christian support,” the Patriarch of Romania urged<\/a> on Wednesday, October 31.<\/p>\n

” The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Spain and Portugal joins forces with central, regional, and provincial authorities to support our brothers and sisters facing great suffering,” said Bishop Timotei of Spain and Portugal in a public appeal<\/a> for solidarity issued last Thursday.<\/p>\n
