The Committee of Representatives of Orthodox Churches to the European Union (CROCEU) held a meeting on Tuesday at the Orthodox Center Ambiorix in Brussels.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The gathering, chaired by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, brought together representatives from the Romanian Patriarchate, the Bulgarian Patriarchate, and the Orthodox Church of Greece.<\/p>\n

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation with other Christian organizations in Europe, such as the Conference of European Churches (CEC<\/a>), the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE<\/a>), and the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In addition, the meeting covered plans for CROCEU’s upcoming visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in November, which will include an audience with His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew.<\/p>\n

“The members of CROCEU hope to fulfil the mandate entrusted to them by their respective Churches and to represent the Orthodox Church in the best possible way. This role will be especially significant during high-level meetings organized by the European Parliament and the European Commission, events which are currently in the planning stages,” the committee said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Later in the session, CROCEU members met with Frank-Dieter Fischbach, the Secretary General of CEC, to discuss the two organizations’ ongoing cooperation.<\/p>\n

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for the representation of Christians within the European Union’s institutions.<\/p>\n
