{"id":467299,"date":"2024-02-22T11:45:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T09:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=467299"},"modified":"2024-02-22T11:45:49","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T09:45:49","slug":"patriarch-daniel-welcomes-new-greek-ambassador-evangelia-grammatika-on-presentation-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/patriarch-daniel-welcomes-new-greek-ambassador-evangelia-grammatika-on-presentation-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriarch Daniel welcomes new Greek Ambassador Evangelia Grammatika on presentation visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed Her Excellency Evangelia Grammatika, the Ambassador of Greece to Bucharest, on a presentation visit at the patriarchal residence on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Department for Inter-Church and Inter-Religious Relations of the Romanian Patriarchate issued a press release stating that the Patriarch of Romania extended a cordial welcome and expressed gratitude for Her Excellency&#8217;s extensive diplomatic background at the outset of the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambassador thanked for the reception and highlighted the Romanian Orthodox Church&#8217;s central role in society and Orthodoxy&#8217;s contribution to affirming spiritual values.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambassador underscored that this is her inaugural diplomatic mission as Ambassador and official visit since delivering the letter of credence to Romania.<\/p>\n<p>His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel recalled the excellent traditional relations between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Church of Greece and emphasised the importance of understanding the Byzantine culture as a common heritage of the two Orthodox nations.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel reflected upon the extraordinary contributions that certain Greek figures have made to our country&#8217;s culture and education.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, His Beatitude emphasised the Romanian Principalities&#8217; substantial role in emancipating the Balkan peoples and facilitating the formation of new nations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.<\/p>\n<p>As stated in the press release, the meeting concluded with a discussion of timely matters, with particular attention given to the challenges posed by the ongoing military conflicts.
