In addition to its philanthropic endeavours in Romania, which totaled more than 8 million Euros (40 million lei), the Archdiocese of Iasi engaged in community service in Africa during the previous year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Archdiocese of Ia\u015fi provided 10,000 euros in material assistance to Orthodox Christians from the Diocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania in 2023. Donations totalling 26,221 euros were also incorporated into this amount via the ajutorpentrutanzania.ro<\/a> website, according to a press release<\/a> issued by the archdiocese.<\/p>\n

The Archdiocese of Iasi initiated its mission in Tanzania in 2010 when, at the invitation of Metropolitan Demetrios of Irenopolis, a ten-day visit to Africa was undertaken by a delegation of the archdiocese led by Metropolitan Teofan.<\/p>\n

The programme endeavours to construct churches and wells, furnish warming meals, award school scholarships, and offer various forms of assistance, with a particular focus on children.<\/p>\n

Several Romanian clergy and believers engage in philanthropic endeavours and missions on the African continent.<\/p>\n

Presiding over the parish of the Romanian Patriarchate in Johannesburg, South Africa, is priest R\u0103zvan Tatu. The inaugural Romanian church to be consecrated<\/a> on the African continent occurred in 2019.<\/p>\n

Beyond the observance of the liturgical service, the Romanian priest engages in philanthropic endeavours that benefit those in need. For years, the area has been beset by a shortage of electricity and potable water, which has impacted every aspect of life.<\/p>\n
