Your Holiness,<\/p>\n

With sadness, we have learned of the passing from this world, today, the 2nd<\/sup> of February 2023, at the feast of the Meeting of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ in the <\/em>Temple, of His Eminence Metropolitan John of Pergamon, an old friend of our Church and of ours, personally, and a tireless promoter of inter-Orthodox unity and communion and of the Orthodox values in the inter-Christian dialogue.<\/p>\n

We remember him as the erudite hierarch and an outstanding academic personality, professor of Dogmatic Theology, in particular, in the realm of ecclesiology and that of the theology of the person.<\/p>\n

In this time of sadness, we address to Your Holiness and to the Holy Church of Constantinople our fraternal thoughts of consolation and pray the Lord Jesus Christ, Who has risen from the dead, to give to the soul of our brother hierarch John rest in the peace, light and love of the Most Holy Trinity!<\/p>\n

May his memory be eternal from generation to generation!<\/em><\/p>\n
