The President of Romania on Tuesday signed<\/a> a decree decorating the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Grebenac in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Serbia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The parish community will receive the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of Grand Officer, Category G – “Religious denominations” for “its outstanding contribution to the preservation of the Orthodox faith, language, spirituality, Romanian culture, the ethnic identity of Romanians in the present-day Republic of Serbia, as well as its notable merits in deepening spiritual-cultural ties with Romania.”<\/p>\n

The decoration is linked with the 300th anniversary of the parish church dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord.<\/p>\n

The Church of the Ascension in Grebenac was built in 1722 and is included on Serbia’s list of cultural monuments of exceptional importance.<\/p>\n

President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree on the same day that the Romanians of the Diocese of Dacia Felix welcomed their new Bishop, His Grace Ieronim.<\/p>\n
