The old-growth forests of Romania, and particularly those found in the Southern Carpathian Mountains, also known as the Transylvanian Alps, have been included on a list of\u00a052 Places To Go In 2020, put together by The New York Times, Romania Insider reports<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTo experience a piece of real wilderness without having to go to the ends of the earth, look no further than Romania,\u201d the section of the list dedicated to the country argues.<\/p>\n

The forests are highlighted for their \u201cincredible array of flora and fauna\u201d and as home to bears, wolves and other wildlife.<\/p>\n

The article recommends a visit to Domogled-Valea Cernei National Park or the F\u0103g\u0103ra\u0219 mountain range, both offering \u201cthousands of acres of truly untouched nature\u201d and opportunities for various outdoor sports and activities.<\/p>\n

The article mentions the high-altitude road Transf\u0103g\u0103r\u0103san, a destination for motoring enthusiasts, and references \u201cRomania\u2019s very decent roads\u201d which allow travelers to reach various nature sites.<\/p>\n

The issue of illegal logging is also mentioned in the article, alongside the suggestion that more travelers coming to see the forests could send the message \u201cthat these trees are worth more alive than dead.\u201d<\/p>\n
