Comitus Eutolmius was sent to the Pontine (lower Black Sea) region, where he crucified the followers of the Christian Zoticus, who had refused to offer sacrifice to idols. He took Zoticus with him.<\/p>\n
In Nicomedia, Eutolmius arrested the Martyr Agathonicus (together with the princeps), and also Theoprepius, Acindynus and Severian. After tortures, Eutolmius ordered that the martyrs be taken to Thrace for trial by the emperor.<\/p>\n
But along the way, in the vicinity of Potama, the Martyrs Zoticus, Theoprepius and Acindynus were unable to proceed further behind the chariot of the governor because of wounds received during torture.<\/p>\n
Therefore, they were put to death. The Martyr Severian was put to death at Chalcedon, and the Martyr Agathonicus together with others was beheaded with the sword by order of the emperor, in Selymbria.<\/p>\n
The relics of the Martyr Agathonicus were in a church named for him at Constantinople, and were seen in the year 1200 by the Russian pilgrim Anthony. And in the fourteenth century Philotheus, the archbishop of Selymbria, devoted an encomium to the Martyr Agathonicus.<\/p>\n Your holy martyr Agathonicus and his companions, O Lord, \/ through their sufferings have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. \/ For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, \/ and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. \/ Through their intercessions, save our souls!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/article>\n Saint Eulalia lived in Spain, near the city of Barcinonum (the Latin name for the city of Barcelona), at the end of the 3rd century and the beginning of the 4th century.<\/p>\n She was raised by her parents in the Christian faith and, from a young age, devoted her time to prayer, reading Scripture, and handiwork.<\/p>\n When she learned of the persecutions against Christians, she secretly left home and appeared before the governor to rebuke him.<\/p>\n As a result of her actions, she was subjected to numerous tortures: she was beaten, tied to a tree, her body was torn with iron claws, and her wounds were burned with torches.<\/p>\n Throughout this time, the young girl remained steadfast in her faith, and a miracle took place. The flames of the torches turned back upon the executioners, causing them to fall to the ground.<\/p>\n As Saint Eulalia was giving her soul into the hands of the Lord, a white dove came out of her mouth and ascended into heaven.<\/p>\n Then, an unexpected snowfall covered her naked body like a white garment, symbolizing the purity and glory she had received from God.<\/p>\n The veneration of Saint Eulalia spread throughout the Iberian Peninsula. In Barcelona, there are statues dedicated to her, and her name has been given to numerous streets, squares, passageways, and neighborhoods throughout the region. She is also the patron saint of the city of Oviedo.<\/p>\n Her relics are still preserved today in the crypt of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia in Barcelona, inside an impressive Gothic alabaster sarcophagus.<\/p>\n Your lamb, Jesus, Eulalia, cries out to You with a loud voice: \u201cI love You, my Bridegroom, and in seeking You I endure suffering. I am crucified and buried with You through Your Baptism. I suffer for You, that I may reign with You; I die for You, that I may live in You.
