OCA Metropolitan Tikhon visits Romanian Patriarchate

His Grace Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești welcomed His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, in an audience on Friday, June 7, at the Patriarchal Palace.

According to a press release by the Department for Inter-Church and Inter-Faith Relations, during the meeting, His Grace Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești provided an overview of Orthodox church life in Romania, referring to the events that will be organized by the Romanian Patriarchate in 2025 to mark the centennial of the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon noted the pastoral and missionary dynamism of the Romanian Orthodox Church, highlighting in this context the importance of the Basilica Media Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate, whose extensive activities are well known beyond Romania’s borders, including in the United States of America.

Additionally, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon emphasized that the construction of the National Cathedral is a jewel of the Romanian Patriarchate in particular and of universal Orthodoxy in general.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon and his accompanying delegation paid a several-day visit to Romania. On June 5, Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Putna Monastery and visited the monastic settlement.
