NATO Deputy Secretary General visits Munich church centre: The most significant Romanian foundation in Bavaria

On Monday, the Deputy General Secretary of NATO, Mircea Geoană, attended the Divine Liturgy held in the Hall of Crosses at the Munich Church Centre.

The distinguished guest was given a tour of the establishment, after which he posted a message of appreciation on his Facebook and Instagram profiles.

Mircea Geoană wrote that the Church Centre in Munich is “the most significant Romanian foundation in Bavaria and, perhaps, maybe even in Germany.”

“An impressive architecture inspired by Curtea de Argeș Monastery and a young and vibrant Romanian community that preserves its tradition, language and faith. And the important connection with the country, the eternal ‘home'”, the NATO official also wrote on social networks.

“Our respect for the tireless effort and guidance of His Eminence Serafim Joantă, with whom I remember discussing this beautiful project since 2003, and for His Grace Sofian of Brașov, who takes care of the spirit of the Romanians in Munich,” NATO’s Deputy Secretary General concluded.

The Munich Church Centre is the largest facility of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Germany, Central and Northern Europe. Located at Kastelburgstrasse 84-88, 81245 München-Aubing, the ensemble includes a church, a monastery and a parish community centre.

The church is dedicated to The Exaltation of the Holy Cross and St. Callinicus of Cernica. The settlement also has a chapel dedicated to St. Silouan the Athonite.
