Migrants in Timișoara receive over 250 kg of vegetables and fruits from Banat Metropolitan

Metropolitan Ioan of Banat donated over 250 kilograms of vegetables and fruits for migrants in transit through Timișoara.

Flavius Ilioni-Loga, coordinator of the LOGS Group of Social Initiatives, which supports migrants who camp in the area, offered special thanks to His Eminence Metropolitan Ioan, but also to other faith communities in western Romania.

“We thank His Eminence Ioan Selejan, Archbishop of Timisoara and Metropolitan of Banat, who today joined our social initiative,” Flavius Ilioni-Loga wrote on Facebook. “We welcome the support of the religious communities in Timisoara for helping immigrants.”

The migrants who arrived in the diocese of Timisoara come from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Syria. Romania is just a transit country for them, Balkan Insight reports.

Those who help them get involved because they remember the communist regime when their acquaintances and relatives tried to cross the border to a better life in the West.
