The head of the Polish Orthodox Military Ordinariate, His Eminence Archbishop George (Jerzy) Pańkowski, paid a visit to Romania from Nov. 25 to Nov. 28, 2019.
The delegation of the Polish Orthodox Church was invited to Romania by Fr. Florin Vladoiu, head of the Religious Assistance Section of the Romanian Ministry of National Defence.
“It was a bilateral activity,” Father Vlădoiu said, adding that discussions were held between the Polish delegation and representatives of the military clergy in the Romanian Patriarchate in order to extend the collaboration between the two military institutions.
The Polish delegation was welcomed by the patriarchal auxiliary bishop Varlaam of Ploiesti at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest on November 25.
The guests visited the Patriarchate’s Palace, the chapel of the National Cathedral, St Anthimos and Radu Voda Monastery, Cotroceni National Museum and the Palace of the Parliament.
The program also included visits to Caraiman and Sinaia Monasteries.
During their stay, the Polish delegation met with the Director of the General Staff of the Defence, Major-General Corneliu Postu.
Archbishop Jerzy Pańkowski leads the Orthodox Diocese of Wrocław and Szczecin beginning with 2017.
