Georgian Ambassador in Bucharest pays a farewell visit to the Romanian Patriarch

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, received Wednesday His Excellency the resigning Ambassador of Georgia to Romania, Mr. Ilia Giorgadze, at his Patriarchal Residence.

Ambassador Girogadze expressed his thankfulness and honour for the reception at the Romanian Patriarchate and briefly presented his diplomatic activity carried out in Romania in almost five and a half years. His Excellency reiterated his wish to continue to promote actively the good ties between Romania and Georgia in general and those between the Romanian Patriarchate and the Patriarchate of Georgia in particular.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked the Ambassador for the constant support offered in the development of relations between the two sister Orthodox Churches, especially in promoting of pilgrimages in Georgia and Romania organized by the Basilica Travel Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate.

Moreover, the Patriarch of Romania expressed the hope of continuing and deepening the future cooperation on cultural and spiritual levels, in areas such as theological education and media communications, in organizing exhibitions and other events that promote Orthodoxy in the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel presented Ambassador Ilia Giorgadze with the St Anthimos the Ivirite Order of the Romanian Patriarchate, as a token of appreciation and gratitude for the fruitful work carried out in our country.
