The “Holy Apostles Peter and Paul” parish church in Chișinău’s Buiucanii Noi district will be elevated to the rank of Metropolitan Cathedral for the Metropolis of Bessarabia after completing the painting and landscaping works.
On Friday, March 17, 2023, Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia visited the church with His Excellency Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, the Romanian Ambassador to Chișinău.
The Metropolitan and the Ambassador discussed with the parish priest Petru Buburuz the current needs for completing construction works and the arrangement of the inner courtyard and the church’s social centre.
The website of the Metropolis of Bessarabia reported that the parish is experiencing financial difficulties in carrying out the works. The parish priest Petru Buburuz asked the visitors for their assistance in locating funding sources to complete the iconography and other works.
Ambassador Cristian Țurcanu wrote on Facebook that he had the unique pleasure of visiting the place of worship, which “represents an indisputable symbol of Romanian Christianity on the two banks of the Prut.”
Metropolitan Petru laid the cornerstone of the Church of the Holy Apostles in Chişinău in 1994.
