Artists finish frescoes at main dome of new Warsaw Orthodox Church

The main dome of the new Orthodox Church in Warsaw has been completely painted by iconographers. The completion of the frescoes was announced by the local archdiocese in a communique published on the Polish Church’s website.

The Church of Hagia Sophia in Warsaw has five domes with the main dome towering at a height of 21.6 meters.

The stone façade of the western wall was also finished, the text reads.

Additional works at the church’s belfry will be carried out in the near future.

The foundation stone of the Hagia Sophia Orthodox Church in Warsaw was laid in 2015 during a ceremony led by His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

The first Divine Liturgy celebrated inside the new church took place three years later.
