May 1922 – Priest and historian ION SRBU passed away in his native
village Rudăria. Secondary studies at Caransebel, Debrețin, Bratislava
and Brașov; higher studies – theology, history and philosophy (doctor’s
degree in 1899) – at the Universities in Jena, Vienna and Cernăuți, with
equivalent exams at the Theological Institute in Arad (1909). Professor
at the “Central Seminary” (1901 – 1902) and at the Commercial School in
Bucharest (1902-1904), first trustee of the Library of “Carol”
Foundation in Bucharest (1902 – 1904), priest in Rudăria (1910 – 1922)
and “deanery administrator” of Mehadia, county of Caraș-Severin (1910 –
1920). Member in the great National Council of Alba Iulia and one of the
founders of the “Banat league” (1919), he was elected deputy in the
first Parliament of complete Romania. Works: Matei Vodă Basarab

Upheavals and his foreign politics (together with the events touching
the neighbour countries) – unfinished (2 volumes, 1904 – 1907; re-edited
1976).
