Romanian Patriarchate urges parishes to support people during heatwave

Amid the extremely high temperatures affecting Romania, the Romanian Patriarchate urges all dioceses to provide support to people impacted by the heatwave.

Parishes and monasteries are encouraged to distribute drinking water to those in need and to allow people affected by the heat to rest for short periods in shaded and cool areas. Church institutions that provide medical or social services are also urged to offer assistance wherever possible.

In regions affected by drought and prolonged high temperatures, churches—and, where possible, open fields—will host the Prayers in Time of Drought, asking God, who “gives rain upon the earth and sends water upon the fields” (Job 5:10), to grant what is beneficial for humanity and all creation.

The Romanian Patriarchate also calls on all the faithful to show care and solidarity towards vulnerable people during this period of extreme heat.
