Patriarch Daniel of Romania sends condolences on death of Cardinal Lucian Mureșan

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel sent a message of condolence last Thursday upon the passing of His Eminence Cardinal Lucian Mureșan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic Church.

“We honour the memory of a devout cleric, a confessor of the faith during the communist regime, and we extend condolences to the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful of the Greek-Catholic Church in Romania,” the Patriarch’s message noted.

His Eminence Cardinal Lucian Mureșan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic Church, passed away on September 25.

To the Members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic
Your Graces,

We received with sorrow the news of the passing from this life, at the venerable age of 94, of His Eminence Cardinal Lucian Mureșan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic Church.

We honour the memory of a devout cleric, a confessor of the faith during the communist regime, and we extend condolences to the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful of the Greek-Catholic Church in Romania.

We pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Resurrection and the Life (cf. John 11:25), to rest the soul of Cardinal Lucian Mureșan in the light, peace, and love of the Most Holy Trinity.
