Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj: Prayer and fasting will help us overcome the world’s challenges

“It is clear to all of us that the world faces many problems, and we hope to overcome them with the help of prayer and fasting,” emphasized Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj, Maramureș, and Sălaj in his message at the beginning of Great Lent.

His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei noted that this period offers an excellent opportunity for spiritual strengthening, encouraging the faithful to pray more, fast from food, and read the Holy Scriptures.

“We will engage in good reading, especially from the Holy Scriptures, and strive to be more reflective. We will make a good confession and seek to improve our lives. We will be kind and merciful to those around us,” said Metropolitan Andrei.

“But most importantly, we will participate in the holy services: on Sundays, the Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great; on Saturdays, the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom; and on Wednesdays and Fridays, the Liturgy of Saint Gregory the Dialogist. Let us not forget the evening services, especially Sunday Vespers, after which we will reflect on a petition from the Prayer of Saint Ephrem the Syrian.”

“We wish you a blessed and spiritually fruitful Lent,” concluded His Eminence.
