“Patriarch Irinej was a great man of the Serbian Church, Orthodoxy and our Serbian people,” said the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

“Our people can be proud of such a spiritual Shepherd, as they have always been proud of their people and their Church. May God grant forgiveness to his soul and may his soul abide a paradise settlement.”

In his message of compassion, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic called the patriarch “a man who was a symbol of the spiritual unity and harmony of the Serbian people, who was always with the people and the believers in the most difficult moments.”

The funeral service will take place tomorrow at 9:00 am at the Church of Saint Sava while the body of Patriarch Irinej will be placed in a crypt inside the church that was built especially for the burial of Serbian hierarchs.
