During the festivities held Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Patriarchal Palace, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel pointed out the missionary activity of the Basilica News Agency stressing that it has communicated the ‘good to know’ from the Romanian Patriarchate’s dioceses for 10 years.
‘For 10 years, the Basilica News Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate is the website through which the pastoral, missionary, social-philanthropic activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church is made known through news articles, reports or interviews,’ said His Beatitude in his official message conveyed on the patronal feast of the Media Centre, the feast of the Holy Trinity.
The Basilica Media Centre has two patronal feasts, namely the feast of the Holy Trinity aka the Day of the Holy Spirit, and the Feast of Saint Demetrius the New, Protector of Bucharest, celebrated on October 27.
Marking the 11th anniversary of the Patriarchate’s Media Centre, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel met with its staff, blessed them and thanked them ‘for their loyalty and dedication to the Church and its mission in society.’
The meeting took place at the Europa Christiana Hall of the Palace of the Patriarchate, after the festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral.
The Basilica Media Centre was founded at the initiative and with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on October 27, 2007, and is comprised of five departments: Radio Trinitas, Trinitas TV, Lumina Publications, the Basilica News Agency and the Press and PR Office of the Romanian Patriarchate.
This year on June 16, the Basilica News Agency will celebrate its 10th anniversary of online ministry.
