Patriarch Daniel blesses dental centre at Rădăuți

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, blessed Sunday the Dental Centre of the St Leontius Social Settlement in Rădăuți.

The medical institution inaugurated May 14 is dedicated to Saint Nectarios of Aegina.

His Beatitude was traditionally received with bread and salt by two children dressed in folk costumes and by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Justin Dragomir, abbot of Bogdana Monastery.

After the blessing service, Patriarch Daniel presented Abbot Justin with the St John Chrysostom Order of the Romanian Patriarchate. In his turn, the abbot of Bogdana Monastery presented His Beatitude with an icon depicting the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple. Finally, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church has blessed the children present at the event.

Several Romanian hierarchs also attended the service.

Children’s Settlement of Saint Leontius is a social service that provides a stable environment and well-integrated services to the children enrolled in this institution, for reintegrating them in their family, or, as needed, for social, professional reintegration and preparation for independent life. The purpose of the Settlement is to temporary – or as long as necessary – replace the parental responsibilities when the circumstances do not allow the reintegration of the child in the natural or in the extended family. The target group of the social service consists of disadvantaged children (orphans, with no material means of living, as well as children coming from disorganised families) aged from 3–18, and living in Suceava county.
