Romanian Patriarch Daniel arrives in Russia on historic visit

Saturday morning, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, arrived in Russia for the celebration of the centenary of the restoration of the Russian Patriarchate. The plane bringing the Romanian delegation landed on Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport at 11:05, local time.

Patriarch Daniel was welcomed by a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church including Metropolitan Veniamin of  Orenburg and Bishop Irinej of Orsk and Gai.

During his stay in Moscow, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will be accompanied by:

  • His Eminence Hon Metropolitan Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște;
  • Rev. Fr. Michael Tița, Patriarchal Adviser,
  • Rev. Fr. Ştefan Ababei, Patriarchal Adviser,
  • Archdeacon Maxim Ţifui, Eparchial Adviser,
  • Rev. Fr. Eugeniu Rogoti.

Together with the delegation, representatives of the Basilica Press Centre are attending the Moscow events: Deac. Ionuţ Mavrichi from the Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate, Aurelian-Nicolae Iftimiu, the Head of the Basilica News Agency.

On the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the Russian Patriarchate, invitations were sent to all Primates of the Autocephalous Orthodox Churches.
