Presence at referendum of all religious denominations in Romania is a witness based on faith – Patriarch Daniel

‘The presence of all religious denominations in Romania at the referendum is a witness based on faith, not a political option,’ Romanian Patriarch Daniel said on Tuesday at the meeting of the Consultative Council of Religious Cults in Romania (CCRCR).

Common witness of faith

Opening the CCRCR meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel noted that ‘family is the gift of God, it is the human institution established by God the Creator of Universe and of man,’ which is the common witness of the faith promoted by the religious groups in Romania.

In supporting the marriage referendum, ‘the Romanian Orthodox Church knows it is not alone, because we have already noticed back in 2013 that all religious cults converge to this traditional line.’

‘We set a great hope first in the help of God and second in our cooperation and co-responsibility,’ the Patriarch of Romania said October 2.

During the meeting, the representatives of the religious groups legally recognized by the state expressed their support for defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

The meeting was also attended by the State Secretary for Religious Denominations Victor Opaschi.

The CCRCR Secretary Archdeacon George Grigorita read out the Council’s communique supporting the marriage referendum that will take place in Romania on October 6-7, 2018.
