Patriarch of Romania celebrates name day in prayer. HG Justin: Knowing the challenges of the world, Your Beatitude has prepared the Church for future times

On the feast of the Holy Prophet Daniel, Saturday, 17 December 2016, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, celebrated his spiritual protector.

On this occasion, His Beatitude presided over the Divine Liturgy officiated at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest. Together with the Romanian Patriarch concelebrated the following hierarchs:

Representatives of state authorities also attended the festive Divine Liturgy.

After the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Justin officiated a Te Deum service. Next, His Grace delivered a festive address on the name day of the Patriarch of Romania. Congratulating His Beatitude on behalf of the Holy Synod, Bishop Justin focused on the life of Prophet Daniel and stressed the resemblance between the wisdom and faith of the Prophet and of Patriarch Daniel. “God offered you the wisdom of the Holy Prophet Daniel, his vision and strategy of labouring in a desacralizing world”, he said. Bishop Justin went on to say: Knowing the challenges of the world, Your Beatitude has prepared the Church for future times

In his turn, the Patriarch of Romania spoke about how important it is to be protected by saints during earthly life. It is a special joy to feel protected by saints, His Beatitude said. He explained that one could feel this protection if one keeps a personal relation with his or her protector saint.

In the end, flowers and a procession cross were presented as gifts to His Beatitude, on behalf of the patriarchal advisers, of the Archdiocese of Bucharest and the clergy of the Patriarchal Cathedral. Thanking for the gift, Patriarch Daniel said that those flowers represent the flowers of faith.
