That is why, the Patriarch noted, the main topic presented was ‘The contribution of monasteries to keeping the unity of faith and the sacrificial self-giving of monastics for the unification and the unity of the Romanian nation.’

Patriarch Daniel said that ‘the Metropolis’s monastic synaxis has a pastoral, cultural and missionary purpose,’ and ‘is a need coming from the monastic’s vocation to be a confessor of faith, an intercessor not only for themselves, but for the Church and the nation.’

The Sept. 24 Synaxis was attended by the members of the Bishops’ Assembly of the Metropolis of Muntenia and Dobrudja, including Archbishop Teodosie of Tomis, Archbishop Ciprian of Buzau and Vrancea, Archbishop Calinic of Arges and Muscel, Archbishop Casian of Lower Danube, Bishop Vincentiu of Slobozia and Calarasi, Bishop Galaction of Alexandria and Teleorman, Bishop Ambrozie of Giurgiu, and Bishop Visarion of Tulcea.
