Patriarch Daniel after Samos earthquake: We express solidarity with the Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek people

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel sent a message of solidarity with the Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek people, following the strong earthquake that shook the island of Samos on Friday, Oct. 30. The message is addressed to Archbishop Hieronymos II of Athens and all of Greece:

His Beatitude Hieronymos II,
Archbishop of Athens and All Greece

Your Beatitude,

We learned with great sadness about the consequences of the strong earthquake that occurred north of the island of Samos and that affected the populations of neighbouring countries of Greece and Turkey.

In these difficult times, on behalf of the clergy and the faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church, we send our condolences to all the bereaved families and pray to the Most Holy Trinity to give rest to the souls of those who lost their lives. We also pray for the recovery of the wounded and the help of all those who have been affected by this earthquake.

We express our solidarity with the Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek people. At the same time, we pray to God to keep the whole world safe from earthquakes and other calamities.

We embrace you brotherly in Christ the Lord!

† Daniel
Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
