Ordination date for Bishop-elect Atanasie of Bogdania

Atanasie Rusnac arhiereu vicar al Episcopiei Italiei

The Very Rev. Archimandrite Atanasie Rusnac will be ordained to the Episcopacy during a Divine Liturgy that will be celebrated Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Diocesan headquarters in Rome.

The ceremony will be led by His Eminence Metropolitan Iosif of Western and Southern Europe.

Bishop-elect Atanasie of Bogdania will be the first assistant bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy.

He was elected by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church during its February 15 working session.

Bishop-elect Atanasie of Bogdania was born in 1982 in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, receiving the Romanian citizenship in 2010.

He studied telecommunications at the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon France and pastoral theology at the St Serge Institute in Paris.

He graduated a master program in Canonical Law at St Andrei Saguna Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Sibiu.

In 2011 he was appointed chancellor (diocesan vicar) of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy.
