Newly consecrated Bishop Benedict celebrates first Divine Liturgy in home town

One week after his ordination to the episcopate, His Grace Bishop Benedict of Bistrița, Romania’s youngest Orthodox hierarch, celebrated his first Divine Liturgy in his home town Sartăş.

Addressing those present, the assistant bishop to the Archdiocese of Vad, Feleac, and Cluj, confessed that after his ordination the first thing that came to his mind was to serve in his home town.

“Everything God has intended me to be so far is thanks to you. I was born and raised here and I feel each of you as part of my family.”

“Where can you celebrate the Passover, the Liturgy of God, better than in your family,” said the assistant bishop Benedict.

The Church of Pentecost in Sartăş was built in 1992 and is led by Fr. Ioan Vesa, Bishop Benedict’s father.
