Met. Ghenadie Petrescu’s memorial house blessed by Patriarch Daniel

Following a memorial service held at Caldarusani Monastery on the 100th death anniversary of Primate Metropolitan Ghenadie Petrescu, HB Patriarch Daniel blessed Saturday the former Wallachian Metropolitan’s memorial house, which includes an art gallery.

Attending the event was the Assistant Bishop to the Bucharest Archdiocese, Bishop Timotei of Prahova.

The art gallery ‘was consolidated and restored by the Ministry of Culture through the National Heritage Institute between 2006-2012, but the works have stopped because of the lack of funds.’

Since this year we mark the 1918 Great Union Centennial, the Bucharest Archdiocese resolved ‘to offer the necessary financial support to complete the works,’ the Patriarch said.

During the event, Patriarch Daniel presented the volume ‘Primate Metropolitan Ghenadie Petrescu’, published by the Basilica Publishing House of the Romanian Patriarchate.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel added that the book includes a chapter of the Ph.D. thesis of Fr. Florin Serbanescu, patriarchal adviser.

‘Most of the paintings in the art gallery belonged personally to Metropolitan Ghenadie Petrescu,’ the Patriarch of Romania said Aug. 25.

At the end, Patriarch Daniel offered diplomas of worthiness to those who contributed to the restoration of the art gallery. Next, he blessed the old abbot’s house.
