Launch of two volumes published by the Patriarchate’s Publishing House. “History of Romanian Parishes” to be published soon, Patriarch announces

Two volumes published by the Basilica Publishing House of the Romanian Patriarchate were launched Jan. 24 at the conclusion of the scientific session held at the Palace of the Patriarchate.

Rev. Academician Mircea Păcurariu presented the second volume in the series on Romanian Orthodox Monasticism. Next, His Grace Varlaam of Ploiești, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, presented the volume entitled Ministrants of the Romanian Orthodox Church – Members of the Romanian Academy (1866-2016), containing biographies of Romanian Orthodox clergy that received the full, corresponding or honorary membership of the Romanian Academy.

While congratulating the authors of the Romanian Orthodox Monasticism series, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel announced the intention of the Romanian Patriarchate to publish on twelve-volume series of the History of Romanian Parishes from home and abroad.

We have to show that Romania is not only a country of monasteries, as a western church personality called it a few years ago, but also the country of parishes. It is very important to emphasize respect and mutual support between parishes and monasteries, the Patriarch said. His Beatitude noted that the new series would stress the contribution of parishes to the social and cultural life of the Romanian people.

Patriarch Daniel awarded the authors of the volume on monastic life the Saint Anthimos the Ivirite Order of the Romanian Patriarchate.
