Holy Synod elects assistant bishops to the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, and the Archdiocese of Arad

Assistant Bishops elected by the Holy Synod

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church met Tuesday, 4 July 2017, at the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, chaired the working session.

During the meeting, the Holy Synod elected two Assistant Bishops for the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, and namely for the Archdiocese of Arad.

The members of the Holy Synod elected the Very Reverend Archimandrite Damaschin Luchian as Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, with 39 out of the total 45 valid votes cast. The new Assistant Bishop will bear the title “of Dorna”.

During the same meeting, the members of the Holy Synod elected His Grace Emilian of Loviște as Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Arad, with 43 votes out of the total 46 valid votes cast. His Grace Bishop Emilian will bear the new title “of Crișana”.
