His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomes Georgian Ambassador at his patriarchal residence

Thursday, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador of Georgia in Romania Mr Nikoloz Nikolozishvili at his patriarchal residence.

On this occasion, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel pointed to the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries, as well as the fraternal relations between the Romanian and the Georgian Orthodox Churches. The good cooperation was deeply inspired by the personality and work of the great Orthodox hierarch originating from Georgia, Hieromartyr Saint Anthimos the Iberian, Metropolitan of Wallachia.

In turn, Ambassador Nikoloz Nikolozishvili conveyed to the Romanian Patriarch the greetings of the Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church as well as his invitation to visit the Georgian Patriarchate.

The Ambassador appreciated Romania for supporting the Georgian people’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

The Ambassador of Georgia expressed the joy of having contributed to the opening of a direct Bucharest-Tbilisi flight route available in February 2018, which will facilitate pilgrimages to the holy places of the two lands for both Romanian and Georgian believers.

Both His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and His Excellency Mr Nikoloz Nikolozishvili stressed the concrete contribution of the Orthodox Church to the life of society and the importance of Christian tradition in preserving identity values.
