Heirotesia service as father confessor in the historic chapel of the Patriarchal Residence

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, has performed a heirotesia service, today, 20 November 2013, upon seven priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest. The service has taken place in the historic chapel of the Patriarchal Residence, dedicated to Saint Great Martyr George.

At the end of the service, the Patriarch of Romania spoke about the mission and responsibility of the father confessor in the Christian life.

“The spiritual father is a carrier of grace, the grace of forgiveness of sins and of the resurrection of souls crushed by passions and sins. The grace that rises, recovers, renews, heals is certainly an unspeakable and priceless treasure because in it there is the beginning of eternal life. Forgiveness of sins is the beginning of eternal life. The one forgiven of one’s sins shares in the joy of eternal life even from this world. Let us bring absolution of sins where there is much enslavement and oppression of souls and bring communion instead of loneliness and joy instead of sorrow, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity and the joy of the Church” said His Beatitude.
