Greek Ambassador to Bucharest visits the Romanian Patriarchate

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed Jan. 25 His Excellency Mr Vassilis Papadopoulos, Greek Ambassador to Romania, on a presentation visit, at the Patriarchal Residence.

His Excellency thanked for reception and underlined aspects of church and social life in Greece in the context of the efforts that the Greek state authorities together with the Church of Greece undertake in order to overcome the consequences of the economic crisis and the impact created by the migration phenomenon.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel appreciated the traditional ties existing between the two Orthodox Churches and peoples and emphasized the pastoral wisdom of His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymus II of Athens and All Greece, by supporting the hope and nurturing solidarity in Greek society. In this context, the Patriarch of Romania noted the care of the Romanian Orthodox Church to carry out various social programs in the tradition of the Holy Fathers, through its more than 800 philanthropic institutions.

The Ambassador expressed his desire to visit representative monasteries and churches in Romania as well as his readiness to support pilgrimages organized in Greece by the Basilica Travel Pilgrimage Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate.

During the meeting, the two interlocutors insisted on the need to promote Christian values ​​in the European context, through concrete programs of cooperation and through a common stronger attitude, avoiding at the same time individualistic isolation and globalist dissolution of identity.
