On Thursday, 12 October 2017, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed at his patriarchal residence His Excellency Cord Meier-Klodt, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Romania.
The ambassador thanked for the honourable reception and appreciated the important and balanced role played by the Orthodox Church in Romanian society.
His Excellency believes that the important events of the last period have demonstrated that the European Union is not a given fact, but rather a process that needs to be supported. At the same time, he expressed his willingness to be a close partner of Romania in endeavours that can emphasise the stability of the European project.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel congratulated the new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bucharest and wished him to carry out successfully his diplomatic mission in Romania. His Beatitude went on to express his hope that the good Romanian-German ties will contribute to the unity of Europe and to a mutually profitable cooperation.
Furthermore, the Patriarch of Romania appreciated the support offered by Catholic and Protestant communities to the over five hundred thousand Romanians living in Germany.
