Father Dumitru Stăniloae commemorated in Bucharest. 23 years since his passing away to the Lord

The greatest Romanian Orthodox theologian, Father Dumitru Stăniloae, passed away to the Lord on 5 October 1933. Twenty-three years after the death of Fr Stăniloae, the dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest, Rev. Fr.  Ștefan Buchiu, officiated a memorial service at St Catherine University Chapel. Professors and students of the Orthodox Theology Faculty attended the service.

Fr. Ștefan Buchiu addressed the students a word about the life and works of Fr. Dumitru Stăniloae, whom he called the Evening Star of Romanian Orthodox Theology.

Dean Rev. Buchiu said that by commemorating Father Dumitru Stăniloae we light up Romanian Orthodoxy. The dean also urged the students to study his works.

Prof. Rev. Dumitru Stăniloae was born in 1903, in Vlădeni, Brașov County. He graduated Andrei Șaguna Highschool in Brașov and the Faculty of Theology in Cernivtsi, where he obtained his doctorate. He taught Dogmatics at the Faculties of Orthodox Theology in Sibiu and Bucharest. He is the author of numerous books, studies and articles on theology and spirituality.
