Distinguished guests on a pilgrimage to the Monasteries in Vâlcea County

His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and all East, and His Eminence John, Metropolitan of Rustavi, representative of Georgian Catholicos Ilia II, visited Friday, 29 September 2016, Hurezi and Bistrița Monasteries, in Vâlcea County. They were accompanied by several Antiochian, Romanian and Georgian hierarchs, the official website of the Archdiocese of Râmnic informs.

His Eminence Varsanufie, Archbishop of Râmnic, welcomed the hierarchs at Bistrița Monastery. In his welcome address, His Eminence presented the history of the monastic settlement.

Bistrița Monastery is one of the monastic settlements of the Archdiocese of Râmnic where there are painting, embroidery, sculpture and chiselling workshops. The relics of St Gregory of Decapolis represent the greatest treasure of the monastery.

The Patriarch of Antioch addressed thanks and asked the monastic community to remember in their prayers their Orthodox brothers in the Orient.

In the end, the delegations bowed down before the relics of Pious St Gregory of Decapolis and visited the museum of Bistrița Monastery.

The pilgrimage continued with the visit to Hurezi Monastery.
