Days of Cathedral’s Consecration to begin in two months

The six-day manifestation dedicated to the consecration of Romania’s National Cathedral will begin in two months.

Several spiritual, liturgical, and cultural events will be organized by the Romanian Patriarchate on Nov. 25-30 to solemnly mark the consecration of the Romanian People’s Salvation Cathedral.

The manifestations that will last six days will bear the title of ‘The Days of the Cathedral’s Consecration’, and are closely linked to the 1918 Great Union Centennial celebrated by Romania in 2018.

Consecration ceremony

The consecration of the Cathedral’s holy altar and inlaid mosaic iconostasis will be officiated by His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

After the consecration ceremony, all believers will be able to enter and venerate the holy altar for the next six days.

The Ecumenical Patriarch is the only Primate of local Orthodox Churches that will join Patriarch Daniel and the Romanian Orthodox Church’s hierarchs in consecrating the National Cathedral.

Relics of St Andrew the First Called

The manifestations include the reception of the holy relics of Saint Andrew the First-Called brought to Bucharest by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patra.
