Camp for Disabled Young People at Teliu, Braşov County

From 1-8 August 2016, the “Transylvanian Soul” Social Cultural Association organises in partnership with Teliu Vale parish, within the Archdiocese of Sibiu, the 5th edition of the Youth Camp entitled Workshops for disabled young people: wood – mud – leather, the official website of the Metropolitanate of Transylvania informs. The camp will be held in Teliu, Braşov County and will consist of three workshops: sculpture, leather and mud, coordinated by artisans, as well as of trips, games, music and dance shows.

The newness of this edition consists in the fact that disabled young people (with Down syndrome, autism, physical disabled) will participate, through the partnership with Down Plus Association of Bucharest, with all expenses covered by organisers. The project is subsidised by the Ministry for Youth and Sport through the Braşov County Department for Sport and Youth – Rev. Fr. Costin Butnar, President of the “Transylvanian Soul” Social Cultural Association informs.

This project is designed to revive the Romanian folk customs in close relationship with the Orthodox traditions in a multi-cultural area and organise workshops for the disabled young people and their companions.

Having been a camp organised in partnership with Teliu Vale parish, the young people will participate in the programme of prayer, as well as in short meditations and history lessons on Transylvania.

The camp will end with an exhibition of the objects made by the young participants. At the end they will be awarded prizes. The partners of the Transylvanian Soul Association are: city hall of Teliu commune, Teliu Secondary School, and the Orthodox Parish of Teliu Vale.
