Bishop Ioan Casian prays for Toronto van attack victims at the scene of the accident

The Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, Ioan Casian, prayed Saturday for the victims of the van attack that took place in Toronto on April 23.

The bishop and several priests went to the scene of the attack to light candles and pray for those who passed away.

Bp Ioan Casian urged those present to entreat God to protect all from similar future events and to help those who have suffered and are still suffering following the attack.

Ten people are dead and 15 are injured after the driver of a van ploughed into multiple pedestrians in Toronto on Monday, April 23.

After learning about the tragedy, His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian sent a message of compassion urging for prayer for the deceased and their families.

‘We, the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, at this time of tragedy, stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and fervently pray to the God of great love and mercy that He give rest to the departed ones and save us from any repetition of this kind of really terrible atrocities,’ the message reads.
