Bishop Ieronymos enthroned as metropolitan of Larissa

A new day dawned yesterday in Larissa, where at the city’s main square clergy and faithful welcomed their new bishop, Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, reports Orthodoxia.info.

The new hierarch arrived at 11am and was greeted by the bishops who had travelled to the Thessalian city for his enthronement, as well as by the civil authorities and hundreds of faithful, both local and from neighboring areas. Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece was unable to attend.

Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias, locum tenens of the Larissa see, presented the new metropolitan with a pastoral staff and the city’s mayor, Apostolos Kalogiannis, welcomed him in a speech on behalf of everyone present.

From the main square, Metropolitan Ieronymos together with the people made his way to the metropolis cathedral in order to be officially enthroned in the church.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the newly enthroned hierarch visited the tomb of his predecessor and prayed a trisagion.
