Ambassador of France on a farewell visit to the Patriarch of Romania

Patriarch Daniel receives the resigning Ambassador of France in Bucharest, Francois Saint-Paul

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, received on 31 May 2017 at his Patriarchal Residence the resigning Ambassador of France in Bucharest, Mr. Francois Saint-Paul.

Ambassador Francois Saint-Paul thanked for the warm welcome and stressed that his three-year diplomatic activity in Romania represents a period of very intense knowledge of the country, during which he enriched his personal experience for consolidating and deepening the ties between the two countries.

In this context, the Ambassador noted that during his stay in Romania he visited many historical places, where he was received with much hospitality.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel congratulated the French Ambassador on the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Romania and appreciated the good ties between Romania and France given the transformations occurred in Romanian society in the last almost three decades, and the integration process of our country into the European Union.

The French Ambassador appreciated the Romanian Patriarchate’s point of view regarding the moral support offered in the process of consolidating the rule of law and the fight against corruption in Romania.

The Patriarch of Romania stressed that through her attitude the Church fulfils a moral duty being politically neutral but also pointing out the need to cultivate social ethics that counteract the social phenomena of poverty, injustice and emigration for financial reasons.

During the meeting, the two also insisted on the need to promote education of young people in a spirit of creativity and responsibility for the progress of Romanian society.
