Ambassador of Belarus in Romania pays presentation visit to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel

Thursday, 23 November 2017, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador of Belarus to Romania, Mr. Andrey M. Grinkevich, at his patriarchal residence in Bucharest.

Patriarch Daniel expressed his joy over the appointment of Mr. Andrey Grinkevich as Ambassador to Romania asking God to bless His Excellency’s mission in Bucharest.

In turn, Mr. Andrey Grinkevich thanked for the reception noting that he visited Romania, meeting with several archbishops and metropolitans, visiting churches and monasteries, being impressed by the warm attitude of Romanians towards the Church. In this context, the Ambassador expressed his intention to contribute to drawing the two countries closer and to strengthening the good ties between the Orthodox Churches in Romania and Belarus.

Ambassador Grinkevich recalled that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Belarus. In this regard, he said he wants to promote cooperation between the Schools of Theology in Romania and Belarus.

Andrey Grinkevich noted that up to present over 20 Romanian universities are in contact or have partnerships with universities in the Republic of Belarus. Furthermore, there are many partnerships closed between the museums in the two countries.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel considered the possibility of signing a collaboration protocol between the Faculties of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest and Minsk.

In addition, the Romanian Patriarch pointed to the fact that Romanian pilgrims are already visiting the holy places in Russia and Ukraine through the Basilica Travel Agency, expressing his hope that they would visit similar destinations in the Republic of Belarus.
